Teen Volunteers

    The Basics

The Library can be a great place to help out with a variety of interesting and fun tasks that help your community and prepare you for the working world. Because of this, we prefer teens to visit or contact us themselves to show us their responsibility and reliability.

    The Basics

    • You MUST be in grades 9 through 12.
    • Hours can be used for school, an organization, or personal enjoyment. The library does not provide service hours for court mandated issues.
    • We cannot guarantee hours. We have many requests for community service and may not be able to give you all the hours you need in the time that you need them.

    Getting Hours

    • Check our Event Calendar to see what's coming up: each event lists the description, service hour amount, and open registration date.
    • Register for the opportunities that fit you.
    • Show up and help out!
    • When you need your service forms signed, let the teen librarian know. We can only sign service forms from your school or organization; we do not provide forms. Teens must be present in order to get any paperwork signed confirming hours.

    The Extra Important Stuff

    • Our volunteer opportunities require registration. If you cannot attend the opportunities that you have registered for, be sure to either cancel online, or call us to cancel. If you miss more than 2 opportunities without canceling, you will not be able to register for any more opportunities.
    • Volunteer opportunities are not guaranteed. Hours will not be awarded for unsatisfactory work or inappropriate behavior. The library reserves the right to refuse hours or terminate volunteers whose performance is unacceptable.
