Interlibrary Loan Policy
The Lincoln Public Library is a member of the Ocean State Libraries consortium. The library shall provide and promote interlibrary loan services to all patrons holding a valid Ocean State Libraries (OSL) card. All Lincoln Public Library items set as “holdable” are eligible for interlibrary loan request.
Rhode Island library patrons with a valid library card, except those holding local-use-only cards, may request OSL (Ocean State Libraries) Interlibrary Loan items directly through the OSL catalog.
Rhode Island library patrons with a valid library card, except those holding local-use-only cards, are able to borrow materials from non-OSL Rhode Island libraries and out of state libraries using the Interlibrary Loan service. The Interlibrary Loan service (ILL) is governed by the Library of Rhode Island standards. The availability of these items is dependent on the owning library’s policies. There is no guarantee that the materials requested will be available from another institution. There is no charge for placing an ILL request but ILLs obtained from libraries outside the statewide system are subject to a fee of $3.00 to defray the cost of postage. All items are subject to normal fines and fees for overdue and lost materials.
Approved and adopted by the Lincoln Public Library Board of Trustees April 26, 2016 revised February 26, 2019.
